Hlatshwayo believes the title race will be very close, and goal difference may decide the champion.
Thulani Hlatshwayo expects Orlando Pirates to win the Betway Premiership trophy next month.
The former Bafana Bafana captain noted that Pirates are making a strong push to take the title from eight-time champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
Hlatshwayo, who has also played for the club, stated that the title is now Pirates’ to lose.
Currently, Pirates lead the PSL standings with a point and an extra game over Sundowns, marking a significant effort in their championship campaign after nearly a decade.
“To me, it’s for Pirates to lose. Everywhere I go, people ask who I think will win the league. If you look at the last five games, they could have scored two more goals against TS Galaxy. It’s going to be close, with goal difference being key,” he said on the Arena Sports Show.
“Discipline is crucial, and they have experience on their side. Sundowns are also seasoned and gaining strength now. While coach Cardoso and journalists analyze past performance, it’s important to remember how much Sundowns have done this season, but for me, it’s for Pirates to lose.”
