Chelsea FC in London is taking significant steps to improve its financial situation after reporting a record loss of £262.4 million in the Premier League. To address this issue and avoid penalties, the club is looking to sell some of their key players.

Details: As reported by El Nacional, one of the first players on the list is Marc Cucurella, a Spanish left-back. The club has reached out to Barcelona, offering to sell their former academy player for around €40 million.

Issues surrounding the 27-year-old defender have intensified due to his public criticisms of the club’s management. Cucurella voiced his concerns about their transfer strategy and the dismissal of coach Enzo Maresca at the start of 2026.

This outspokenness, particularly his support for the recently fired coach who led the team to win the Conference League and Club World Cup, has led to tensions between him and Chelsea’s leadership.

During this season, Cucurella has played in 41 matches for Chelsea, scoring once and assisting three times. Transfermarkt estimates his value at €50 million.
