The players’ late return, due to celebrations for the DRC’s qualification for the 2026 World Cup, is frustrating the clubs.
After qualifying against Jamaica on March 31, the Democratic Republic of Congo plans a large celebration in Kinshasa on April 5 at Stade des Martyrs to mark their World Cup return after 52 years. However, this celebration is preventing clubs from having their players available for league matches, leading to some complaints.
In France, Lille and Le Havre have voiced their concerns about their players, Chancel Mbemba and Lionel Mpasi. In Spain, the absence of Charles Pickel has also raised issues, with his club, RCD Espanyol, even considering penalties when he returns.
