The Los Angeles Galaxy will face Minnesota United on Saturday night in Carson, California. Both teams are struggling this season, each with a record of 1-2-2 and 5 points.

The Galaxy played to a 1-1 draw against the Portland Timbers on March 22, while Minnesota United had a scoreless draw with the Seattle Sounders on the same day.

The Galaxy’s busy schedule, including two rounds in the CONCACAF Championship Cup, has affected their MLS performance. Although they are advancing in cup play, their league results have been disappointing.

The draw against Portland was frustrating for the Galaxy, especially since they had a man advantage for the last 70 minutes. Joao Klauss scored the equalizer shortly after a Timbers red card, but the Galaxy could not find the net again.

Galaxy coach Greg Vanney emphasized the need for teamwork and better decision-making in crucial moments to secure wins.

Klauss leads the Galaxy with five goals, while Minnesota’s top scorer is Kelvin Yeboah with two. Minnesota’s recent draw was less disappointing, as they managed to keep the Sounders scoreless after suffering a heavy defeat to the Vancouver Whitecaps prior.

Despite showing defensive improvements by holding two teams scoreless, Minnesota has also allowed 11 goals, the second-highest in the Western Conference.

Minnesota coach Cameron Knowles highlighted the need for stability and better control of the game, even without possessing the ball.

For this match, Minnesota will miss veteran forward Julian Gressel, who is recovering from surgery for a fractured toe. Defender Michael Boxall and midfielder Peter Stroud will also be unavailable due to injuries. Midfielder James Rodriguez, who recently returned from international duty, is expected to play despite dealing with an illness.

The Galaxy will be without forward Joseph Paintsil, who has a hamstring injury, and defender Jakob Glesnes, who is struggling with a calf issue.
