Slot continues to earn the trust of the players.

Florian Wirtz is confident that Liverpool will bounce back next season.

Details: Before the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final against PSG, a journalist posed a challenging question to Liverpool’s 22-year-old midfielder, Florian Wirtz.

The question focused on whether the players were still following manager Arne Slot or if they were acting independently. Wirtz’s response was prompt:

“Yes, absolutely. We believe in him, and that’s crucial — he led us to win the league last season.

We’ve had many great matches, and we wanted to achieve more than we currently have. There are still goals to pursue. We trust the coach,” Wirtz replied.

This season has been disappointing for Liverpool, currently sitting 5th in the Premier League. They risk missing out on European football next season if mistakes continue.

Wirtz joined Liverpool in summer 2025 from Bayer for €125 million. He has played 41 matches for the Reds, netting 6 goals and providing 9 assists.

Reminder: It’s been a while since Liverpool set a club anti-record in the past 11 years!
