Eddie Nketiah will be sidelined for the rest of the season due to an injury, effectively ruling him out of participating in the upcoming World Cup.

The Crystal Palace F.C. striker has been coping with a recurring hamstring issue and has not played since the 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on December 28. This latest injury marks his fourth hamstring problem of the season.

Manager Oliver Glasner provided an update, explaining that the news came unexpectedly after a late consultation with the medical staff at the club, concluding Nketiah’s campaign.

“For Eddie, unfortunately, it’s the end of the season,” Glasner said. “This news came yesterday evening (Wednesday). The doctor called me at nine in the evening when I was watching the Champions League games, so it’s really brand new.”
