Veron Mosengo Omba, the former general secretary of the Confederation of African Football, has officially announced his candidacy for the presidency of the Congolese Football Association. This declaration follows considerable speculation regarding his intentions and was formalised on Tuesday, 21 April, in Kinshasa.
Alongside Mosengo Omba, multiple candidates have entered the race for the leadership of the Congolese football governing body. Notable figures competing against him include Shabani Nonda, a prominent former Congolese striker, and Azis Makukula.
The upcoming election for the presidency of the Federation is poised to be competitive, with each candidate bringing significant experience and recognition within Congolese football.
