Chelsea Football Club has dismissed head coach Liam Rosenior, triggering a compensation payout that may be lower than initially expected due to a specific clause in his contract.

According to insider Fabrizio Romano, the termination clause included in Rosenior’s contract means that Chelsea will not be obligated to pay his full salary for the remaining years of the deal, leading to a reduced compensation package.

Initially, it was reported that terminating the long-term contract, which was signed in January 2026 and runs until 2032, would entail significant financial repercussions. Chelsea was prepared to pay Rosenior approximately £24 million as compensation.

The club’s management had reportedly already initiated preliminary discussions with potential candidates to steer the team out of its current crisis on the pitch.

Note: Young Chelsea and Brazil national team talent Estevao might be sidelined and potentially miss the 2026 World Cup.
