Barcelona femeni goalkeeper Cata Coll struck a rallying note after her side earned a 1-1 draw away to Bayern Munich in the first leg of their UEFA Women’s Champions League semi-final, urging fans to turn up in force for the decisive return leg.
“It’s not the result we wanted here, but it’s still a good result,” Coll said, as she immediately shifted focus to the second leg at Camp Nou. “We can return to the stadium with our people, with our fans, and have them come and support us like they always do.”
She added a direct appeal to supporters ahead of the tie-defining clash under coach Pere Romeu: “If they came here to Germany, I know they’ll come on Sunday. I’m sure there will be a full Camp Nou. And we want to give them the reward of reaching the final. We have that goal firmly in our sights, and we have to achieve it for them.”
The draw leaves the semi-final finely balanced, with Barcelona set to host Bayern in front of a packed home crowd for a place in the final.
