The Senegalese Football Federation has lodged an appeal challenging the African Football Confederation’s (CAF) decision to award the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title to Morocco. This legal dispute has escalated, prompting an ultimatum for the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.
The case, now moving to a critical phase at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), stems from CAF’s decision to strip Senegal, known as the Lions of Teranga, of their title and confer it upon Morocco, referred to as the Lions of the Atlas. The appeal was formally submitted on 25 March.
As the proceedings progress, the CAS is currently awaiting the defense brief from Morocco. The court has established a deadline of 7 May for this document to be submitted.
