Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is reportedly intensifying efforts to acquire Joan Martínez, a promising young defender from Real Madrid. The 18-year-old centre-back has emerged as a key target for the French club as they seek to strengthen their defensive lineup for the future.
According to Madrid Xtra, citing Marca, PSG’s sporting director Luís Campos has been working discreetly on this transfer for several months, pinpointing Martínez as a top-priority signing. The move underscores PSG’s ambition to enhance their defensive capabilities in the coming years.
Martínez is highly regarded in Spain, often compared to Sergio Ramos for his defensive style and physical attributes. Despite experiencing a serious cruciate ligament injury in 2024, he has made a complete recovery and recently renewed his contract with Real Madrid until 2029.
As of now, the young defender has yet to make his first-team debut, and Transfermarkt currently values him at €5 million.
