Fousseyni Diawara, a former international player for Mali, has officially declared his ambition to become the head coach of the Malian national football team. His confirmation follows speculation that he was the frontrunner for the position after the recent dismissal of Tom Saintfiet by the Malian Football Federation.

In an interview with Canal+ Sport Afrique, Diawara emphasized his readiness to lead the Mali Eagles, citing his extensive experience with both the Malian and Guinean national coaching staffs. He confirmed that his application will soon be submitted to the relevant authorities.

I would like to reiterate my desire to secure the position of Mali’s head coach. I have been working with the national team for several years. I am ready and I have an experienced coaching staff. My application will be in the federation’s hands very soon.
