Inter Milan striker Ange-Yoan Bonny has initiated the administrative process to switch his sporting nationality to represent Ivory Coast on the international stage. This development follows an announcement made by Ivory Coast manager Emerse Fae last March, which was initially denied by the Ivory Coast Football Federation.

However, over a month later, official confirmation has been provided that Bonny will indeed play for the Ivory Coast national team. The 23-year-old forward, who was born in France and has previously represented French youth teams, has opted to compete for the country of his origin.

Bonny visited the Consulate General of the Ivory Coast in Milan to begin the process of obtaining his Ivorian passport. This decision comes as the Ivorian national team prepares for the upcoming World Cup, scheduled for this summer across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

With Bonny’s change in sporting nationality, the team gains a valuable attacking asset ahead of the tournament. It is anticipated that he will be included in Emerse Fae’s squad for the trip to North America.
