Elye Wahi has joined Nice in a bid to rejuvenate his career and secure a spot on the Ivory Coast national team. The striker made this move on loan from Frankfurt last winter, motivated by the encouragement he received from the Elephants’ manager, Emerse Fae.

In an interview with L’Equipe, Wahi expressed gratitude for Fae’s confidence in him, which has begun to bear fruit. The player recently received his first call-up to the Ivory Coast national team during the March 2026 international break, marking a significant milestone in his career.

As he awaits the announcement of the official squad for the World Cup, set to take place this summer in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, Wahi remains optimistic. He stated, “Making the national team was a goal when I came here. I put my trust in coach Fae; he felt that with my temperament, it would work out in Nice.”

“I won’t say anything until the squad is announced, but it’s fine, I didn’t play badly against Scotland.”
