Fiorentina has announced the termination of the contract of Ghana defender Tariq Lamptey, effective immediately. This decision follows a challenging period marked by injuries that hindered the player’s contributions to the club.
Lamptey joined Fiorentina from Brighton & Hove Albion last summer in a reported €6 million deal, signing a three-year contract with the Serie A club. However, the 25-year-old struggled to establish himself in Italy, participating in only two matches during his tenure.
His debut appearance came as a late substitute against Napoli, but his first start against Como on September 21, 2025, ended in disappointment due to a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained just 22 minutes into the game. Since then, Lamptey has not played competitively.
Reports indicate that Fiorentina opted to terminate the contract due to ongoing concerns regarding Lamptey’s injury history, as he has faced recurring fitness issues in recent seasons.
