Bayer Leverkusen is on the lookout for a new head coach as management loses patience with current leader Kasper Hjulmand. The Danish coach, who has been in charge since September 2025, is reportedly facing dismissal at the end of the season.

According to well-known journalist Patrick Berger on social media platform X, the Leverkusen board has made the decision to part ways with Hjulmand after a series of underwhelming performances. Under his guidance, the team has played 47 matches, achieving 24 wins, 11 draws, and 12 losses. Currently, Bayer occupies sixth place in the Bundesliga and is at risk of missing out on next season’s Champions League, which would be a significant setback for the club.

Sources indicate that Bayer has already identified former Flamengo manager Filipe Luís as the leading candidate to replace Hjulmand. Additionally, Girona’s Míchel is also being considered by the management for the head coach position.
