Neymar has become the subject of renewed media interest following reports that the Brazilian forward may have secured Italian citizenship. The news, which quickly circulated through global media and social networks, has sparked intense speculation about his future as the 2026 World Cup approaches.

However, Corriere della Sera has since cast doubt on these claims. The publication indicated that Neymar’s recent visit to the Italian Consulate General in São Paulo was not related to his own paperwork but was aimed at addressing citizenship issues for his children.

Furthermore, Neymar’s partner, Bruna Biancardi, is a dual citizen of Brazil and Italy. Italian law allows children of Italian citizens to claim citizenship, irrespective of their birthplace. Thus, the paperwork for their daughters is seen as a routine matter. It is also important to note that Neymar has represented the Brazil national team for several years, making him ineligible to play for another national side, even with dual citizenship.
