Siyabonga Ngezana, the former defender for Kaizer Chiefs, has expressed deep disappointment at being excluded from the Bafana Bafana squad for the upcoming World Cup, set to be co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

Although head coach Hugo Broos is slated to officially announce the squad next week, it is customary for players to be informed in advance of their selection for such a significant event. Ngezana, who participated with the national team during the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), was hoping to make the cut for the global tournament.

Lucian Filip, Ngezana’s coach at Romanian club FCSB, shared his insights over the weekend, noting the defender’s struggle to cope with the news. “No, Siyabonga Ngezana was not called up to the World Cup. He is disappointed, but that’s life, football doesn’t end here,” Filip stated in an interview with Antena Sport.

Filip emphasized the importance of respecting the club, acknowledging that Ngezana’s performances had drawn national attention. He added, “I hope he will be present at the next Championship.”
