Veron Mosengo has been elected as the new president of the Congolese Football Federation, marking a significant shift in leadership. The former secretary general of the Confederation of African Football became the sole candidate in the election held in Kinshasa on Wednesday.

In the General Assembly, Mosengo secured 60 out of 65 votes, with two votes against and two ballots deemed invalid. His election paves the way for a four-year term at the helm of Congolese football.

Mosengo’s leadership comes at a pivotal moment as the Democratic Republic of Congo prepares for its return to the World Cup after a 52-year absence. His presidency is anticipated to bring renewed energy and focus to the development of football in the DRC.
