In the wake of Thomas Tuchel’s significant personnel overhaul, which has seen the exclusion of Cole Palmer, Phil Foden, and Harry Maguire, the England coaching staff has introduced a surprising new twist for fans.

Details: According to reports from The Athletic, 30-year-old striker Ivan Toney, currently playing for Saudi club Al-Ahli, is set to return to the Three Lions squad in preparation for the 2026 World Cup.

Tuchel’s decision is viewed as a recognition of Toney’s impressive performance in the Saudi Pro League. The former Brentford player has had an exceptional season, scoring 42 goals and providing 11 assists in 37 appearances across all competitions for Al-Ahli.

These remarkable statistics, coupled with Toney’s adeptness from the penalty spot, have prompted Tuchel to reconsider his previous stance on the player, who had not been called up to the national team since June of last year. As the World Cup approaches, Toney is expected to serve as the primary backup to Harry Kane.
