The Senegalese national football team has announced its roster for the upcoming tour of the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with head coach Pape Thiaw addressing concerns about captain Kalidou Koulibaly’s physical condition. Koulibaly recently suffered an injury while playing for Al Hilal.
During a press conference, Thiaw emphasized the crucial role Koulibaly plays within the “Lions of Teranga” squad, citing his leadership and vast experience as vital assets. The coach reassured fans and media regarding Koulibaly’s status as he continues his rehabilitation.
According to Thiaw, progress is being made, and he remains optimistic about Koulibaly’s potential return to full fitness ahead of the World Cup, which is set to commence on June 11. The manager noted that while the countdown is on, there is still time for the captain to recover.
Kalidou Koulibaly is the bedrock of this squad. He is undergoing rehabilitation. It’s looking positive; with three weeks to go, I think he’ll be fully fit. The World Cup isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon. And I think he’ll be ready.
