Massimiliano Allegri has reportedly identified Alex Grimaldo as a priority transfer target for AC Milan ahead of the summer transfer window.
According to journalist MilanNews24, Allegri specifically requested the signing of the Bayer Leverkusen wing-back during meetings with Milan’s hierarchy.
The report states that Allegri views Grimaldo as the ideal solution to strengthen Milan’s left flank following the departure of Theo Hernández to Al Hilal last summer.
Grimaldo’s technical quality, attacking output and European experience are said to fit the exact profile Allegri wants for his squad rebuild.
However, any move for the 30-year-old reportedly depends entirely on Milan securing qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
The Rossoneri are still battling for a top-four finish heading into the final stages of the campaign, and the report claims failure to qualify for the Champions League would make a deal significantly more difficult financially.
Should Milan secure their place in Europe’s top competition, the club are expected to open talks with Leverkusen to assess the feasibility of the transfer.
