Details have emerged nearly a year after midfielder Thomas Partey’s departure from Arsenal, revealing the circumstances surrounding his exit from the London club.
Under Investigation: In the summer of 2025, Partey was embroiled in a high-profile criminal case, facing multiple allegations of rape. The allegations led to an investigation, resulting in the footballer being released on bail while legal proceedings were ongoing.
Partey faced five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, involving several women. Reports indicated that the scope of the case was expanded to include seven incidents involving four different alleged victims.
Despite the serious nature of these allegations, Arsenal—under manager Mikel Arteta—sought to extend Partey’s contract. Negotiations included clauses aimed at protecting the club in the event of prosecution, but no agreement was reached. Subsequently, Partey transferred to Villarreal, where he made 32 appearances in the season without recording a goal or assist. He is set to depart from the Spanish club at the end of the campaign.
