The transfer saga surrounding Newcastle’s star forward, Anthony Gordon, is nearing its resolution. Insider Alex Crook has reported that Barcelona has reached an agreement in principle with Newcastle for the transfer of the England international winger. The deal is valued at £70 million, along with additional bonuses.
Barcelona’s management is reportedly keen to expedite the process and has already scheduled a medical for the 25-year-old this week. The club aims to finalize and legally secure the transfer as soon as possible.
Bayern Munich, despite previously agreeing to personal terms with Gordon, appears to be left empty-handed in the race for his signature. Furthermore, Liverpool, who had expressed significant interest in the winger, did not make an official approach.
This season, Gordon has made 46 appearances for Newcastle across all competitions, scoring 17 goals and providing 5 assists. Transfermarkt currently values the player at €60 million.
