The coaching carousel in France’s Ligue 1 is intensifying as clubs look to restructure ahead of the new season.
Details: According to Foot Mercato, French club Lille has finalized an agreement with Italian coach Davide Ancelotti. The son and long-time assistant of renowned manager Carlo Ancelotti is poised to embark on his own managerial journey in one of Europe’s top leagues.
Reports indicate that the 36-year-old Ancelotti will officially take over from Bruno Génésio, who departed from the club at the end of the season. With Lille set to compete in next season’s Champions League, the club’s management, led by Olivier Létang, is making a significant commitment to the young tactician, who has experience with prestigious teams such as Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
The final formalities are currently being completed, and an official press release from the club is anticipated soon. It is noteworthy that Ancelotti’s only previous head coaching experience was with Brazil’s Botafogo.
Recall: Earlier reports had suggested that Thiago Motta was also in contention for the head coach position at Lille.
