Who was the last French team to win the UEFA Champions League?

The last French team to lift the UEFA Champions League trophy was Olympique de Marseille in 1993. Their triumph remains an iconic moment in soccer, marking their place as the first—and so far, only—French club to win Europe’s most prestigious club competition.

The final took place on May 26, 1993, at the Olympiastadion in Munich, Germany. Marseille faced off against AC Milan, a team brimming with stars and considered one of the favorites. Despite the Italian side’s formidable reputation, Marseille pulled off a narrow but decisive 1-0 victory.

Defender Basile Boli scored the only goal of the game just before halftime, heading the ball past Milan goalkeeper Sebastiano Rossi. This victory remains significant because no other French team has replicated that feat in the Champions League era.
