Frustration was evident for Hugo Broos at Orlando Stadium last night as Nicaragua played to a goalless draw against Bafana Bafana. The South African coach expressed his disappointment, particularly as his team failed to seize a scoring opportunity from the penalty spot against Juan Cruz Real’s squad.

Burnley forward Lyle Foster delivered a lackluster performance during the penalty, striking his 12-yard kick against the crossbar, which denied the hosts a chance to take the lead and left Broos visibly upset.

Following the match, Broos commented, “It was a very difficult game, against a very, very negative opponent – I don’t know what they came to do here, but it was just defending and kicking the ball in front.”

Looking ahead, Bafana Bafana are set to face Jamaica on June 5, as they prepare for their opening match in the World Cup just six days later.
