Belgium national team leader Kevin De Bruyne recently provided a candid interview reflecting on his challenging debut season with Italian club Napoli. He expressed his dissatisfaction with the outcomes following his transfer last year, emphasizing that his future at the club will depend on upcoming discussions with management.

In an interview with Niewsblad, De Bruyne revealed that the experiences he had at Napoli starkly contrasted with the promises made to him before his move. He noted that there was considerable talk about the team’s playing style but asserted that very little of that materialized on the pitch.

“I still have one year left on my contract, but I want to have a conversation with Napoli. Last year, there was a lot of talk: ‘We’ll play a certain way, we’ll do this and that’… But very little of that actually happened, and that’s a real shame. I just want to enjoy playing football,” he said.

De Bruyne is now awaiting clarity regarding Napoli’s plans for the upcoming season. If he cannot reach a compromise on the team’s playing style and ambitions, he may contemplate an exit to avoid wasting the final year of his contract.
