Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed the departure of midfielder Angel Gomes, following the club’s relegation to the Championship. The decision not to retain the English player comes after a loan period during which Wolves occupied the bottom position in the Premier League standings.
Gomes, 25, was loaned to Wolves from Marseille in the last winter transfer window, but the club did not exercise the option to buy him. He concludes his time with Wolves after making 12 Premier League appearances over the six-month duration of his loan.
As he returns to Marseille, Gomes remains under contract with the French club until 2028. The news of his departure was shared in a recent statement by Wolves.
