Mikel Oyarzabal’s participation in the upcoming World Cup is in jeopardy following an injury sustained during a friendly match against Peru. The 29-year-old forward for Spain and Real Sociedad was forced to leave the pitch early after landing awkwardly on his foot during an aerial challenge.

Oyarzabal was substituted at halftime after a brief consultation with the medical staff, who decided to err on the side of caution and replaced him with Yeremy Pino. Following the incident, he will undergo further medical examinations to assess the severity of the injury.

If the injury is confirmed to be serious, there is a possibility that Oyarzabal could miss at least the start of the World Cup, which begins in just two days. This season, he has made 40 appearances at the club level, scoring 18 goals and providing 4 assists.
