Slavko Vinčić has been appointed to officiate the opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will feature Morocco taking on Brazil. FIFA confirmed this selection for the highly anticipated fixture.

The match is set to take place on Sunday, June 14, marking the beginning of both nations’ campaigns in the prestigious tournament.

Vinčić, an experienced Slovenian referee, will receive support from Tomaj Klančnik and Andraž Kovačić, who will serve as the first and second assistant referees, respectively.

Additionally, Swiss referee Sandro Schärer has been designated as the fourth official, while Stefanie de Almeida from Switzerland will act as the reserve assistant referee.
