South Africa national team goalkeeper Ronwen Williams commented on the 0-2 defeat against Mexico in the opening matchday of the 2026 World Cup.
“If you make mistakes, you will be punished for it. At this level, it will turn into painful consequences for you. I think the most important thing is that now we understand what we are dealing with, because we are not used to this.”
“We haven’t participated in the World Cup for a very long time. We were trailing in the score, but we kept fighting. We didn’t let them create anything at the end of the game. We also had several decent moments. We will keep fighting, we will move forward as a team, and we will get better,” Williams said.
