Dembélé defends his national teammate amid criticism.
Ousmane Dembélé, the Ballon d’Or winner and leader of the France national team, expressed support for Kylian Mbappé during a press conference today. The Real Madrid forward has come under fire recently from both fans and journalists.
Dembélé emphasized that Mbappé does not deserve the harsh treatment he has been receiving:
“They treat him unfairly, he’s an incredible player.
He’s truly a wonderful person off the pitch as well—I’ve known him for a long time. Sometimes we go overboard with criticism just because it’s Kylian Mbappé. There’s no need to be so hard on him.
Whether he ties his laces or pulls up his socks—it’s just too much!” Dembélé stated.
The criticism of Mbappé isn’t new; he has previously faced scrutiny over his attitude towards football, which some media outlets argue is not in line with expectations for a player of his stature.
