Uruguay came agonisingly close to setting a long-standing record during their FIFA World Cup Group Stage match against Saudi Arabia. In an impressive display, Uruguay launched 22 shots towards the Saudi goal in the second half, according to Opta. This marks the highest number of attempts by a team in a single half of a World Cup match since 1978, with the only greater total being East Germany’s 24 shots against Chile in 1974.

Meanwhile, in other tournament news, Brazil’s star player Neymar will miss his team’s second match. He is currently focused on physical training as he continues his recovery, with reports indicating that his rehabilitation is proceeding as planned.

Additionally, former Real Madrid head coach was seen in the stands during the Brazil vs. Morocco match, accompanied by his sons.
