FIFA has announced that Themba Zwane’s participation in the ongoing World Cup is in jeopardy following a disciplinary decision. The 36-year-old midfielder has received a three-match suspension after being sent off with a straight red card in the opening match against Mexico.
Zwane was substituted into the match in the 64th minute, replacing Jayden Adams. However, just twenty minutes later, in the 84th minute, he was shown a red card for a reckless elbow to an opponent.
This suspension poses a significant challenge for Bafana Bafana, as they face the Czech Republic in their next match. Should they fail to win, it could lead to an early exit from the tournament, marking the match against Mexico as potentially Zwane’s final appearance this World Cup.
