The Canadian government has denied a visa to Elye Wahi, a 23-year-old forward for Nice and the Ivory Coast national football team. This decision has raised concerns as it removes a key player ahead of an important match.
According to reports from The Athletic, the visa denial is linked to Wahi’s ongoing investigation for match-fixing. Under Canadian immigration law, this investigation serves as a significant barrier to obtaining a visa.
Consequently, Wahi will not participate in the Ivory Coast’s match against Germany, scheduled for June 20 at BMO Field in Toronto.
