South Korea’s coach, Hong Myung-bo, expressed his admiration for South Africa ahead of their crucial World Cup Group A match scheduled for next Thursday. Following a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Mexico, Myung-bo urged his players to maintain their hope, emphasizing the importance of the upcoming match against Bafana Bafana as a chance to advance to the next round.
“The goal we conceded was regrettable, but there is no need to hang our heads,” Hong stated after the match. He added, “The result is disappointing, but I believe the players executed the plans we prepared for this game well.”
Currently, South Korea sits second in Group A with three points, having secured a victory against Czechia a week prior. To progress further in the tournament, the team needs to secure a win against South Africa, which Hong acknowledged is a formidable opponent.
“South Africa is a team with good speed,” he noted, highlighting the necessity for tactical preparation. The match is set to kick off at 3 AM South African time next Thursday.
