Former West Ham and Jamaica national team striker Michail Antonio is poised for a retrial following the overturning of a previous guilty verdict in a traffic violation case. The 36-year-old footballer was initially found guilty in absentia in April for failing to provide driver information related to an incident in March 2025 in Birmingham.

During the incident, Antonio’s Lamborghini Urus was recorded speeding at 50 miles per hour in a 40 mph zone. However, at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court, Antonio argued that he had relinquished ownership of the car several months prior to the alleged offence by handing it over to a company for sale. Additionally, he mentioned being unable to drive due to a serious injury sustained in a Ferrari crash in December 2024.

The judge ultimately quashed the guilty verdict, leading to Antonio’s case being rescheduled for review in March of next year.
