Cabo Verde is creating a stir at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, currently taking place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. In their inaugural appearance, the Blue Sharks have maintained an unbeaten record, drawing both of their matches so far.
In their first match of Group H, Cabo Verde secured a 0–0 draw against Spain. They followed this performance with a thrilling 2–2 draw against Uruguay on June 21. This impressive outcome marks a significant achievement for an African nation in its first World Cup appearance.
Notably, Cabo Verde has become the first African team to go unbeaten in its first two World Cup matches since Senegal in 2002, who achieved one win and one draw. The Blue Sharks’ disciplined play has also been highlighted, as they have committed the fewest fouls in their first two matches of the tournament.
