The French manager of the Tunisian national football team has expressed disappointment over his team’s performance at the 2026 World Cup, hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. He acknowledged that the squad failed to meet the tournament’s demands.
Tunisia faced a challenging campaign, resulting in their elimination from the competition. The Eagles of Carthage suffered three defeats and conceded a total of 12 goals during their group stage matches in Group F.
After the team’s 3–1 loss to the Netherlands, Hervé Renard, who took over as coach during the World Cup, openly lamented the team’s lack of competitiveness. He confessed that the players did not rise to the occasion as required by the high stakes of the tournament.
“Playing this sort of match is wonderful, and you have to rise to the occasion. But we simply weren’t up to the standard required for this tournament. I tried to give my very best for Tunisia. It was an honour to take part in this World Cup,” Renard stated.
