Flamengo defeated Chelsea in the group stage of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, and the Brazilian club’s official account didn’t miss the opportunity to mock the English side.

The FIFA Club World Cup 2025 continues to deliver surprises. Following Botafogo’s upset win over Paris Saint-Germain, Flamengo stunned Chelsea with a 3-1 victory on Matchday 2 in Group D — and the Brazilian club had a bold response on social media.

Heading into the expanded 32-team tournament, many expected European clubs to dominate. However, results on the field are painting a different picture. Flamengo’s win keeps South American teams unbeaten in the competition, while Al Hilal managed a draw against Real Madrid, and Inter Miami pulled off a dramatic comeback against Porto thanks to a fantastic free kick goal from Lionel Messi.

Chelsea had opened the scoring through Pedro Neto, and appeared to be in control early. But Flamengo mounted a second-half comeback, with substitute Bruno Henrique netting the equalizer before Danilo and Wallace Yan sealed the victory for the Brazilian side.

Flamengo’s mockery toward Chelsea

These were some of the posts Flamengo shared to mock Chelsea. However, all of them were deleted a few minutes later.

What does the loss mean for Chelsea?

Despite the defeat, Chelsea are still alive in the race to qualify for the Round of 16. Flamengo currently top Group D with six points, followed by Chelsea with three.

The London side will be watching closely as LAFC take on Esperance Sportive de Tunis — a draw in that match would be the most favorable result for Chelsea’s hopes.
