Italian club Roma has taken the lead in the pursuit of Marseille winger Mason Greenwood. This latest development follows an insufficient offer from Turkish side Fenerbahçe, which Marseille deemed too low to consider.

According to RMC Sport, Fenerbahçe submitted an official bid of €30 million. However, Marseille’s management reacted strongly, labeling the offer as “disrespectful.” The French club is not willing to let go of the 24-year-old Englishman for such an amount.

Marseille’s reluctance to sell Greenwood for a lower fee is based not only on his high valuation but also on contractual obligations from his transfer from Manchester United. After Greenwood joined Marseille in 2024, the agreement stipulated that the English club would receive 40 percent of any future resale fee. Consequently, Marseille aims to secure at least €55 million from any deal.

While Greenwood’s future continues to remain uncertain, Roma is currently positioned as the frontrunner to finalize one of this summer’s significant transfers.
