This Tuesday, the standings in Group C of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025—featuring Bayern Munich, Benfica, Boca Juniors, and Auckland City—will be decided.

On Monday, the first two groups of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 were finalized, and Tuesday brings action from two more. First up are the Matchday 3 fixtures in Group C, which includes Bayern Munich, Benfica, Boca Juniors, and Auckland City.

Bayern Munich have had a perfect run through their first two matches: they opened with a dominant 10-0 win over Auckland City, followed by a narrow 2-1 victory against Boca. That secured their place in the next round, though it’s still to be determined whether they advance as group leaders or runners-up.

Benfica drew 2-2 in their opener against the Argentine side, then cruised to a 6-0 win over the New Zealanders, putting themselves on the brink of qualification. However, their final match poses a major challenge, as they face the group leaders—and one misstep could cost them a spot in the knockout stage.

Boca Juniors are the other team still in contention for a place in the Round of 16. They put up strong performances against both European opponents and came within minutes of beating Benfica and drawing with Bayern Munich. Now, they need a convincing win over Auckland City and must hope for a Benfica loss.

Is it better to finish first or second in Group C?

In Group C, Bayern Munich already have their spot secured in the next phase of the Club World Cup, but it’s still uncertain whether they’ll finish first or second in the standings. That will not only determine their opponent in the Round of 16, but also the number of rest days before that matchup.

Ironically, finishing first in Group C comes with the disadvantage of having one fewer day of rest. The schedule has the Group C winner facing the Group D runner-up on Saturday, June 28 at 4 PM (ET) at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. That opponent will be decided Tuesday night and could be Chelsea or Esperance ST.

On the other hand, the second-place finisher in Group C will get an extra day to recover before their next clash. For them, the Round of 16 begins on Sunday, June 29 at 4 PM (ET) at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. Their opponent is already locked in: Flamengo of Brazil, who clinched the top spot in Group D after just two matches.
