Atlético Madrid have opened negotiations with Juventus to bring in Argentine winger Nicolás “Nico” González this summer. Talks are said to be for a permanent transfer, with the deal expected to be valued between €25–30 million.
The 27-year-old joined Juventus from Fiorentina in August 2024 on a loan deal that included an obligation to buy. However, his time in Turin hasn’t fully gone to plan. Under current coach Igor Tudor, González has found himself out of the main plans after managing just 3 goals and 2 assists in 26 Serie A appearances last season.
If the deal goes through, González will join Giacomo Raspadori as part of Atlético’s summer recruitment drive. Raspadori’s arrival has already been confirmed, and Atlético seem eager to add more attacking options to boost their La Liga challenge.
Reports in Italy suggest that other clubs, including Inter Milan and Saudi side Al-Ahli, have shown interest in González, but Atlético appear to be in the strongest position at the moment. Some outlets also hint the talks could be linked to broader negotiations between Juventus and Atlético involving Argentine full-back Nahuel Molina, although nothing is confirmed on that front.
For González, a move to Spain could mean a fresh start and a chance to rediscover the form that once made him one of Serie A’s standout wide players. For Atlético, it’s another statement that they are not holding back in this transfer window.
