Tottenham Hotspur are moving quickly in the transfer market as they line up a bid for Como’s rising midfielder Nico Paz, after missing out on Eberechi Eze, who has officially joined Arsenal.
The update comes via Sky Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, who revealed that Spurs have identified Paz as a replacement for the sidelined James Maddison, who suffered a serious ACL injury during pre-season.
Tottenham had earlier placed a €40 million (around ₹370 crore) bid for the 20-year-old, but Como rejected the offer, valuing their Argentine star at closer to €70 million (around ₹640 crore).
Maddison’s absence is a huge setback, with the midfielder expected to be out for 6–7 months, possibly missing the entire 2025/26 season. Spurs are also reeling from the loss of Dejan Kulusevski, who has been out since May with a knee injury, while Son Heung-min has left the club to join Los Angeles FC.
Alongside Paz, Tottenham are also in talks with Manchester City over Savinho, though City remain hesitant to part ways with the young winger. Spurs manager Thomas Frank is reportedly very keen to land him before the transfer window shuts.
Nico Paz, who joined Como from Real Madrid in the summer of 2024, had an impressive debut Serie A campaign, scoring six goals and providing nine assists across 35 appearances. He is contracted with Como until June 2028, with Madrid holding a first-buy option.
With Arsenal strengthening their midfield with Eze, Tottenham are under pressure to strike a deal quickly. Fans will now be watching closely to see if Nico Paz becomes Spurs’ big signing of the season.
