Newcastle United
might just have a golden opportunity to snag Juventus striker
Dusan Vlahovic
for a mere £33 million. Could this be the answer to their striker woes?
Newcastle’s Striker Shortage
The recent 3-2 defeat to Liverpool highlighted a glaring problem for
Newcastle: their lack of firepower up front.
Despite a spirited performance and a comeback from two goals down, the
absence of Alexander Isak and a true center-forward forced the Magpies to
rely on Anthony Gordon as a makeshift striker.
To make matters worse, Gordon is now suspended for three games following a
red card for a late challenge on Virgil van Dijk.
This situation underscores the urgent need for Newcastle to bolster their
attack before the transfer window slams shut.
Their efforts so far have been fruitless, with a £50 million bid rejected by
Wolverhampton Wanderers for Jorgen Strand Larsen, and failed attempts to sign
Benjamin Sesko, Hugo Ekitike, Liam Delap, and Joao Pedro.
Top Target: Dusan Vlahovic
With Wolves reluctant to part with Larsen, Newcastle’s attention has now
turned to Dusan Vlahovic. The 25-year-old Serbian boasts an impressive
record: 88 goals and 17 assists in 203 Serie A appearances, as well as 14
goals in 36 international matches for Serbia.
Vlahovic was close to joining Arsenal in January 2022, but ultimately chose
to move to Juventus for £66.6 million.
With Juventus, Dusan Vlahovic has scored 59 goals in 146 appearances,
plus six goals in 16 Champions League matches. In the 2024/2025 season,
he scored 17 goals in 49 matches across all competitions.
Standing at 190 cm tall, with impressive physical strength, excellent ball
control, and a keen eye for goal, Vlahovic is often compared to Zlatan
Ibrahimovic. In fact, he himself has said that Ibrahimovic’s never-say-die
attitude inspires him.
Bargain Price and Juventus’s Situation

Juventus, now under new coach Igor Tudor, are reportedly ready to let
Vlahovic go after the arrival of Jonathan David and other targets like Randal
Kolo Muani.
Rumors suggest Vlahovic could be available for just £33 million,
significantly cheaper than Larsen’s £60 million price tag.
While his wage demands could be a stumbling block, Vlahovic’s experience at
the highest level of European football makes him an ideal solution for
Newcastle. He’s also the same age as Larsen but far more proven, both in
Serie A and the Champions League.
If this transfer comes to fruition, Newcastle wouldn’t just be getting a
striker at a bargain price, but also someone who can immediately make a
difference in their attack as they compete in the Premier League, Champions
League, and domestic cups.
