Footem.in – Kobbie Mainoo, a 19-year-old midfielder once seen as a rising star at Manchester United, is now facing an uncertain future.
The young English player is reportedly considering leaving the club before the summer transfer window closes, primarily due to frustration over a lack of playing time under coach Ruben Amorim.
Mainoo has often been placed in a role typically occupied by captain Bruno Fernandes, limiting his opportunities to showcase his talent despite high public expectations.
Negotiations for a contract extension have reportedly stalled, as he is said to be seeking a lucrative deal, while several major European clubs are closely monitoring his situation.
Manchester United values the midfielder at between Rp 760 billion and Rp 1.4 trillion. However, a more realistic option appears to be a one-season loan with a permanent purchase clause.
This arrangement is seen as a middle ground, allowing Manchester United to maintain control over their promising young talent without losing full rights to him.
Nine Clubs Interested in Mainoo
Several top European clubs are now showing interest in Mainoo. Both Spanish giants, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, are among the teams considering him.
Real Madrid views Mainoo as a valuable addition to their midfield, especially following injuries to key players. They believe that playing alongside Jude Bellingham and Eduardo Camavinga could aid his development without the pressure of being a starter right away.
On the other hand, Atletico Madrid offers a different kind of challenge. Under Diego Simeone’s disciplined style, Mainoo could find a significant role in midfield, with a good chance of regular playing time if he transfers to Wanda Metropolitano.
Chelsea is also keenly interested. The London club has been closely watching Mainoo’s progress and feels his skills align well with their squad-building project.
However, Manchester United is reluctant to strengthen a domestic rival, meaning a switch to Stamford Bridge would only occur with a substantial financial offer.
Tottenham Hotspur is another potential landing spot. With James Maddison sidelined due to a long-term injury, Spurs are in need of a playmaker, and Mainoo fits the bill. Yet, similar concerns arise: Manchester United does not want to bolster direct competitors in the Premier League.
Besides the Premier League, Serie A clubs are also interested. Inter Milan, Juventus, and AS Roma have all expressed admiration for Mainoo’s versatility in midfield, with Roma reportedly offering him the chance for regular playtime as an attractive option.
From Germany, Bayern Munich has also been monitoring his situation, but competition at Allianz Arena is considered just as fierce as at Old Trafford, making chances slim.
