During a press conference yesterday, ahead of the match against Lorient, Luis Enrique praised Lucas Beraldo, a 21-year-old Brazilian defender. He stated, “As a coach, my goal is to improve the team and each player individually. In this sense, Beraldo is very young but has a lot of experience and personality. I particularly like his ability to handle the ball and defend intelligently. I’m pleased with him. Currently, he isn’t playing every match he desires, but that’s the nature of this team.”
However, according to L’Équipe, Enrique’s comments were a call for patience directed at Beraldo, who is unhappy with his status as a substitute, having made only six appearances this season. The Brazilian had sought to leave last summer through intermediaries. The report claims that the former São Paulo player (contracted until 2028) still wishes to depart as the January transfer window approaches.
