Woman Sentenced to Four Years for Blackmailing Son Heung-min Over Pregnancy Claims

A young woman in her twenties, named Yang, was sentenced to four years in prison on Monday for blackmailing Son Heung-min, according to Yonhap News TV. Yang was accused of extorting 300 million won (over 175,000 euros) from the South Korean striker in late 2024 by sending him an image of a pregnancy ultrasound and threatening to make her pregnancy public.

She allegedly attempted to extract an additional 70 million won (nearly 41,000 euros) with the help of her boyfriend, identified as Mr. Yong, who was sentenced to two years in prison for attempted blackmail. Both were incarcerated since May. Refusing to pay the second amount, the former Tottenham player ultimately filed a police report. The trial, held behind closed doors last month, featured the player’s testimony.
