Santiago Giménez’s future at AC Milan is uncertain after club director Igli Tare revealed they are considering a swap deal with AS Roma for Ukrainian striker Artem Dovbyk. Fabrizio Romano reports that Tare mentioned, “We are evaluating an exchange between Dovbyk and Santi Giménez. We’ll see after the match. If possible, we’ll make the move… if not, we stay with the current squad.”
However, this news contradicts statements from Giménez’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta, who denied the rumors. She stated, “Giménez is not leaving AC Milan. I can guarantee the reports are not true. He stays at the club,” emphasizing that no negotiations are happening.
Giménez, 24, is under contract with AC Milan until June 2029 and has an estimated market value of €30 million. Since joining the team, he has played 22 matches, scoring six goals and providing four assists. Nevertheless, Milan’s management is still considering trading him to Roma for Dovbyk.
This situation also affects Mexico’s national team plans. Head coach Javier Aguirre has included Giménez in his preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, making regular playing time and form vital for the striker’s international chances.
